Spearmint- Mentha spicata

It is very easy to mistake a spearmint for a peppermint. Spearmint leaves exhibits a light green color, while peppermint has a darker green color. Also, spearmint has a green stem while peppermint has a purple stem. The aroma that spearmints and peppermints exhibits are similar. However, the spearmint’s aroma is lighter and less cooler while peppermint’s aroma are very strong with a higher cooling sensation because of its higher menthol content.
